Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus. (1756–1791) [Ebers, Carl Friedrich. (1770–1836)]. Finale of Don Juan, arranged for piano 4 hands. Leipzig: Frederic Hofmeister. c. 1810. Pieces Choisies des Operas du Boieldieu, Mozart, Paer, Weigl etc. / arrangées a quatre Mains pour le Pianoforte par C.F. Ebers. Liv. II. Engraved throughout. [PN] 435. 25 pp. 35x27cm. Single light vertical crease, else fine. Parts for piano Primo and Secondo on facing pages, this volume from the series "Pieces Choisies," consists entirely of: "FINALE des ersten Akts aus der Oper Don Juan, von Mozart."

The German composer C.F. Eber wrote four operas of his own as well as numerous other works in all genres. However, he was also widely known for his arrangements, often for piano four hands, and he arranged at least three Mozart Operas as such. "His arrangement as a piano sonata of Weber's Clarinet Quintet won him some notoriety, for Weber protested vigorously (AMZ, XVIII, 1816, SUPPL. X - XI), drawing attention to serious alterations in the music. Ebers replied that he was free to do what he liked with any music, and that here he had improved the original and was willing, if Weber disowned it, to step in as its foster-father." (John Warrack, Grove Online)
