A beautiful and fascinating plaque issued on the 100th anniversary of Franz Schubert's death, accomplished in that uniquely German inter-war style that rose in the years of WWI and persisted in many and varied forms until the Nazi's imposition of traditional artistic orthodoxy in the 1930's. The choice of iron is interesting - iron was generally used in war periods because it was not a strategic material, but that would not have been the case in 1928. Given that iron is a much more difficult to cast than bronze one can only conclude that it's use was a deliberate choice made for iron's color and expressive qualities.
