[Carnegie Hall]. Photograph of Carnegie Hall Berlin Orchestra Picket.

Striking original 1955 photograph. According to clipping on verso, "Police are on alert as pickets march in front of New York's Carnegie Hall...to protest the appearance of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra because its conductor and manager were Nazi Pary members. More than 250 turned out to picket. The Betar Zionist group, which had planned to spearhead picketing, arrived at the hall a little late and found the front entrance already being picketed. One of their leaders denounced the early arrivals as "left wingers" and refused to march with them. He led his group around to the rear entrance. Others staged a protest march on a third side of the hall. The performance was sold out." 7.15" x 8.95" and in fine condition.
