An early member of the f/64 group founded by Ansel Adams and Willard Van Dyke, Imogen Cunninham's early work was strongly influenced by Alvin Langdon Coburn and Alfred Stieglitz. She is widely recognized as one of the most important American photographers and her work is heavily collected.
