Beauclerk, Diana. (1734-1808) [Bürger, Gottfried August. (1747-1794)]. Illustrations for the poem Lenore by Gottfried August Burger (1747-1794) - Three Original Engravings.

Group of three original stipple engravings after drawings by Lardy Diana Beauclerk, showing a man and woman on horseback being pursued by Death. In the first image, the man and woman look back as cloaked ghouls fly behind them; in the second, the man points ahead at a monk and a group of pallbearers. In the final image, the man has been replaced by a skeleton wielding a spear, and the woman swoons lifelessly on the horse behind him. Engraved by A. Birrell (first image) and Harding (last image) and all published June 1, 1796 by E. & S. Harding, Pall Mall. Each engraving ca. 11.75 x 9.25 inches (29.7 x 23.2 cm), clipped and mounted on card, slightly irregularly trimmed. Some toning and foxing, especially to the mounts; one corner rip has been repaired. Overall very good.
