Extraordinary and evocative original pencil and watercolor large format painting of the great Russian pianist performing at the Pushkin State Museum, titled "29.XII.85. Funebre" in ink and signed in pencil by the artist "V. Duvidov" lower right. In fine condition. 18.5 x 15 inches (47 x 38 cm.). Mounting remnants and partial sketch on verso, small losses to both upper corners, else fine.
The December Evenings Festival takes place annually at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, Moscow. The Spanish-born Russian graphic artist, painter, and illustrator Victor Aronovich Duvidov studied at the Moscow Polygraphic Institute and became a member of the Moscow Union of Artists in 1961. In 1989 Duvidov received the title of Honored Artist of Russia, in 1993, the title of Laureate of the State Prize of Russia for painting frescoes in the Paleontological Museum, and in 1997, People's Artist of Russia.
