One of the most important of the many periodicals associated with the Symbolist and associated modern aesthetic movements in late 19th-century France, it was founded in 1889 and merged with La Revue in 1903. It published writing by Mallarmé, Henri de Régnier, and others, the young Léon Blum wrote theatrical and literary reviews, and Debussy was its music critic.
