The memoirs of the composer with much on his adventures in Paris in the 1920s with James Joyce, Gertrude Stein, etc. The 4th Symphony was finished in 1944 and dubbed “42”. Leopold Stokowski premiered the work at Carnegie Hall on February 13th, 1944 with the NBC Symphony.
