Signed and inscribed to the celebrated French baritone and composer, Jean-Baptiste Faure (1830 - 1914): "A mon cher camarade Faure. Le souvenir de votre admirable talent au Centenaire de mon veneré Maitre Rossini est gravé dans mon coeur. Merci!!! Mari. Ziegler Alboni / 29 Fevrier 1892" [To my dear colleague Faure. The memory of your admirable talent at the Centenary of my venerated Master Rossini is engraved in my heart. Thank you!"]. 13 x 22 cm. Fine.

In his capacity as principal of the Liceo Musicale in Bologna, Rossini was so impressed by the young Alboni that he personally coached her and assisted closely in shaping her early career. She sang at his funeral in 1868 and writes here to Faure, who had sung at the Centenary of Rossini's birth, on the date of the present inscription, 29 February, 1892.
