Dated September 25, 1964, three days after the opening of the original Broadway production of "Fiddler on the Roof" at the Imperial Theatre. He writes to Jim Parish and thanks him for his opening night wire and notes "It's been some happy week." The production, directed and choreographed by Jerome Robbins and produced by Prince, was a smash hit for many years, racking up a record-setting total of 3,242 performances in its original run.
