Autograph manuscript leaf of the "Bratsche" [viola] part, the opening measures of the first movement of the "Lyrischen Suite für Streichquartett."  Entirely in the composer's hand, marked "Allegretto gioviale," with indications for the engraver ("richtiges Muster" [correct design]), and further indications ("Temposschrift," etc.).  Signed at the head, "Alban Berg." 1 page,upright folio, 10 systems. Slight damage to the edges, with slight toning and foxing, else fine.

Berg's six-movement "Lyric Suite" for string quartet was composed between 1925 and 1926 using methods derived from Schoenberg's twelve tone technique. It was first performed by the Kolisch Quartet on January 8, 1927.
