Striking original 1930 Kaufmann & Fabry of Chicago photograph of the important violinist and influential pedagogue, teacher of Elman, Heifetz, Milstein, Zimbalist, Parlow, Schumsky and many others. The elderly Auer is shown seated beside his young student, Josef Knitzer, who later went on to become chairman of the violin department at the Cleveland Institute.  8 x 10 inches. In-painting by the photographer to the stockings of Knitzer, a few small creases, overall in fine condition.
