Nureyev, Rudolf. (1938–1993) & Béjart, Maurice. (1927–2007). Signed Photograph. Original color photograph of the two important twentieth-century dancers and choreographers, signed by both across the image. Photographed by Jack Vartoogian and dated 1979. In very fine condition. 10 x 8 inches (25.4 x 20.3 cm).

The important French-born Swiss dancer, choreographer and opera director Maurice Béjart choreographed several works for Nureyev in the early 1970's, including his version of "Le Sacre du Printemps" and the moving duo "Songs of a Wayfarer," which Nureyev danced together with Paolo Bortoluzzi. Their working relationship deteriorated, however, in the 1980's, culminating in a massive personality clash at the Paris Opera in 1986.
