Godunov, Alexander. (1949–1995). Signed Photograph.
Scarce signed and inscribed photograph of the Russian-American dancer and actor best known as Premier danseur at the Bolshoi and for his role in Die Hard.  Very fine.  8 x 10 inches (20.3 x 25.4 cm.).

Godunov's 1979 defection caused a diplomatic incident between the US and the former Soviet Union involving the rushed departure of his wife. Godunov was a principal dancer at the ABT, and later appeared in a few Hollywood films, but died of alcoholism complications at age 45.  

From the collection of Paul McMahon, a critic, photographer and artist who worked for more than 13 years touring with Marlene Dietrich as the icon’s stage manager, announcer, dresser, secretary and escort, and later spent 25 years as an arts and entertainment reviewer and photographer with Gay Community News, Esplanade, Tommy’s Connection, The Mirror, Bay Windows and other publications.
