Original Royal Ballet photograph of the prima ballerina in costume for a production of Giselle.  Beriosova has inscribed "To Paul / Best wishes, / Svetlana Beriosova" in black ink.  Royal Ballet stamp to verso.  Small area of wear along left edge, else in very fine condition.  7.5 x 9.5 inches (19 x 24.1 cm.).

Beriosova danced with The Royal Ballet for more than 20 years.  After her retirement in 1975, she became a popular teacher and coach.

From the collection of Paul McMahon, a critic, photographer and artist who worked for more than 13 years touring with Marlene Dietrich as the icon’s stage manager, announcer, dresser, secretary and escort, and later spent 25 years as an arts and entertainment reviewer and photographer with Gay Community News, Esplanade, Tommy’s Connection, The Mirror, Bay Windows and other publications.
