[Tania and Kirsoff]. Signed Photograph. Striking original signed photograph of the dancers Tania and Kirsoff, who were billed as "European Dance Artists" and were known for their exotic snake dance. Photographed by Maurice Seymour. Thumbtack holes in the corners; otherwise in fine condition. 8 x 10 inches (20.4 x 25.4 cm).
Tania and Kirsoff appeared in the mid-1930's around the United States with their "new, unique and sensational Dance of the Forbidden Necklace, 'The Snake Dance.' " Their act was apparently not popular everywhere: the Harrisburg, PA Telegraph reported in May 1937: "At the Hollywood, owner Joe Moss explains gloomily why he had to release Tania and Kirsoff, with their six-foot blue snake... 'When a customer has had a few highballs,' says Moss, 'he doesn't want to see blue snakes.' "
