[Temperance]. "Devil's Toboggan Slide" - Temperance Broadside.
Amusing handbill warning against the evils of alcohol, published by the National Temperance Society ca. 1900–1920. The illustration depicts the "Devil's Toboggan Slide," a ride operated by "Death & Co., Proprietors," whereby a man can slide from cider obtained at a "popular hotel or drug store" through beer, wine and whiskey to the ultimate destination of "Corruption" and "Drunkard's Graves." Very fine. 8.5 x 5 inches (22 x 12.5 cm).

The National Temperance Society and Publication House operated from 1865 until 1915, and published a huge variety of material in support of the Temperance movement—many materials with a religious slant. The present broadside is catalogued by the Ohio History Connection as part of their Temperance Broadsides Collection.
