Liszt, Franz. (1811–1886). Original 1844 Weimar Broadside Program. A rare original program from Liszt's tenure as Kapellmeister at the Weimar Hof-Theater. At the January 21, 1844 concert, Liszt performed as pianist in Weber's "Konzerstuck" and conducted, among other works, Beethoven's "Eroica" Symphony and "Egmont" incidental music. Though any original programs from Liszt's Weimar years are scarce, this one is especially so, as it was uncommon for the conductor to be listed on the program and most of the available programs make no mention of the great composer/pianist who lead the orchestra there for many years. Presumably, he is listed here because he was also the piano soloist.

Liszt had returned to Weimar only 3 weeks before this concert, after having been away for the previous 15 months.
