Cilea, Francesco. (1866-1950). Melodia - Autograph Musical Manuscript. Autograph musical manuscript of a short piano piece titled "Melodia," indicated as no. 1, op. 13 by the Italian composer best-known for his operas L'arlesiana and Adriana Lecouvreur. 55 measures in D minor, 2/4 time, notated in ink over 13 systems, with expressive markings including dynamics, pedal markings, and tempo indications. The heading "Morceaux poétiques" has been changed in pencil with a strike through the "x" and "s," perhaps suggesting that this piece was part of an incomplete set; it is not the "Melodia" from Cilea's Tre piccoli pezzi.  3 pp. on a bifolium. Light overall toning and foxing, folding creases, one tear, wear to the edges and two small losses to the last page; overall in very good condition. 9.5 x 13 inches (24 x 33 cm).
