Signed photograph postcard of the Queen Consort of Romania, known for her huge literary output under the name Carmen Sylva, with seven autograph lines of wisdom. To the left of her portrait in an elaborate costume, Sylva has penned (translated from the French): "Life is a question to the universe: 'Where do I come from? Where must I go? When will it be finished?' And the response is: Work without ceasing!" Dated Bucharest, December 1907. Photographed by Franz Mandy of Bucharest, and embossed with the photographer's stamp at the lower right. Very light toning; overall in very fine condition. 5.5 x 3.5 inches (13.8 x 9 cm).
