Davies, Fanny. (1861–1934). Autograph Signature and Inscription.

Signature of the British pianist, a student of Clara Schumann, with inscription, "So nice to come again! Oct. 26th 1926", in ink to a paper slip probably cut from a notebook.  There is a second, unidentified signature to verso, dated "1-12-24." Oblong format with rounded corners, 4 x 5.5 inches (8.1 x 10.2 cm). Annotation in an unknown hand to recto, else in very good condition.

Initially trained in Birmingham and London, Davies went to Germany in 1883, where she first studied in Leipzig and then, until 1885, with Clara Schumann in Frankfurt, before returning to England.  While successful on the concert stage, she was also in demand as a chamber musician and accompanist of singers and instrumentalists, such as violinist Joseph Joachim.
