In honor of the first Broadway revival of the landmark musical, a major sensation on Broadway this year, we offer this collection of 11 early issues of songs from the great musical. Rodgers & Hammerstein’s "South Pacific" first opened in NYC on April 7, 1949 and closed in 1954 after five years of extraordinary acclaim and countless awards including nine Tonys and a Pulitzer.

Included here are 11 pieces of sheet music from the original production, issued in 1949. Four of these (“Some Enchanted Evening,” "Happy Talk," "Honey Bun," "This Nearly Was Mine") have covers that are purple, blue and white - the first design of the show's sheet music printings. The other 7 titles (“Some Enchanted Evening,” “Younger than Springtime,” “Bali Ha’ i,” “Nothing like a Dame," “A Wonderful Guy,” "A Cock-Eyed Optimist," "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair") are all with the revised second cover design. All are in good condition.
