Topol, Chaim. (b. 1935). "Fiddler on the Roof" - Signed Photograph.
Signed United Artists promotional photograph of the actor as Tevye in the 1979 film adaptation of the classic stage musical Fiddler on the Roof.  Topol has inscribed "To Paul / Shalom / C. Topol."  In very fine condition.  8 x 10 inches (20.3 x 25.4 cm.).

Topol, who frequently uses that mononym as his sole credit, first played Tevye the Dairyman in a 1966 Israeli production of Fiddler, subbing in for ten weeks while Shmuel Rodensky was ill.  Between 1966 and 2009, he would portray Tevye in over 3,500 performances, including his Academy Award–nominated turn in the film adaptation.

From the collection of Paul McMahon, a critic, photographer and artist who worked for more than 13 years touring with Marlene Dietrich as the icon’s stage manager, announcer, dresser, secretary and escort, and later spent 25 years as an arts and entertainment reviewer and photographer with Gay Community News, Esplanade, Tommy’s Connection, The Mirror, Bay Windows and other publications.
