Wood, Natalie. (1938-1981). Signed Childhood Photograph. Rare signed photograph from the height of her juvenile celebrity, signed and inscribed in purple ink. She began appearing in films at the age of five and by the age of 25, was already a three-time Oscar nominee for "Rebel Without a Cause," "Splendor in the Grass," and "Love With the Proper Stranger." She went on to star as Maria in the 1961 film of West Side Story and though originally signed to do her own singing in the film, Wood's sung numbers were later dubbed over by session singer Marni Nixon. Wood died tragically young when she mysteriously drowned in 1981 after trying to recover a dinghy. Signed childhood photographs of Wood are very uncommon. 10.5 X 14 cm.
