Original signed photograph of the most famous actress of the 19th century, known as “The Divine Sarah.” A 6 x 8 inch photograph, boldly signed in fountain pen, "Sarah Bernhardt / 1917" and with the embossed siganture on the mount of the photographer, Paul Boyer of Paris. Scattered foxing around the mount and a light water stain on the right mount edge, otherwise fine.

Bernhardt is shown in a striking large headdress, likely in costume for Sardou's "La Sorcière."
