AMQS from the French composer, organist, and ornithologist, beautifully capturing the song of the "Singdrossel (Grive musicienne)" or song thrush. The grive musicienne makes an appearance in his organ work Chants d'oiseaux (1951) as well as the later piano suite Petites esquisses d’oiseaux (1985). Messiaen has penned three measures of birdsong, signed, and dated 1959. Below his signature, a further signature and inscription from his first wife, the French pianist Yvonne Loriod. 18 x 11.5 cm. Small light stain in a blank area, else fine.
