Poitier, Sidney. (1927–2022) [Belafonte, Harry. (b. 1927)]. Signed Photograph from "Buck and the Preacher". Signed promotional still from the 1972 Columbia Pictures Western starring Sidney Poitier (who also directed) and Harry Belafonte, who are both depicted.  Signed and inscribed by Poitier to Australian television presenter Jim Whaley: "To Jim Best always Sidney Poitier."   Oblong format, 10 x 7.25 inches (18.6 x 25.3 cm).  In very fine condition.
Vincent Canby of the New York Times has written that in this, the first film directed by Poitier, he 'showed a talent for easy, unguarded, rambunctious humor missing from his more stately movies'.  The film broke Hollywood Western traditions by casting Black actors as central characters and portraying both tension and solidarity between African Americans and Native Americans in the late 19th century.
