Brailowsky, Alexander. (1896-1976). Early Autograph Card to Gustave Samazeuilh. A very early postcard from the Russian pianist who studied with Leschetizky and Busoni and who was famed in particular for his Chopin cycles. Dated June 11, 1920, the 24 year old pianist writes to the important French composer/pianist and critic, sending good wishes and detailing his summer travels.

Gustave Samazeuilh (1877-1967) was an intimate of Debussy, Ravel, Chausson, d'Indy and Dukas, and he made over a 100 transcriptions of orchestral works by them and others. Some of these works later became central parts of Brailowsky's repertoire. The present card, though brief, is an interesting association between two keyboard giants.
