Lengthy AMQS from the great German pianist. 2 pp (recto and verso), 8¼" X 6¼", New York, NY, 1965 December 11. Fine. On lined manuscript paper, Kempff entirely filled one side with six lines of music in his attractive hand in blue ink, labeling it "J.S. Bach, Choral a.d. Kantate 147, 'Jesu, Joy of Mens / desiring'." On the verso he pens a staff and one concluding measure, inscribing it "For Mr. Marshall E. Bean with my deepest / sympathies / written before my departure in Germany / New York / 11/XII 1965 / Wilhelm Kempff." A quite handsome piece.
