In the early 1900s, there were at least ten companies in the United States manufacturing musical saws. These saws ranged from the familiar steel variety to gold-plated luxury instruments. Disston Saw Works, a general rather than musical saw manufacturer, was one of the better known and highly regarded manufacturers of handsaws and industrial saws in the United States.
