Washington, Dinah. (1924–1963). Early Promotional Photograph.

A uncommon early promotional photograph by James Kriegsman of the American singer known as "Queen of the Blues."  Light soiling and wear to corners, mounting remnants to verso, else fine. 8 x 10 inch (20 x 25 cm).

Washington is depicted wearing a gardenia in her hair, perhaps a nod to the famous white flower hair styling of Billie Holiday. Despite her early death, Washington is generally regarded as one of the most influential vocalists of the twentieth century.
