Sinatra, Frank. (1915–1998). Important Archive, including Signed Photograph and Autograph Set List. From the estate of Sinatra's 1953 European and U.K. tour Road Manager, Mr. Glyn Jones. A fascinating large archive, in 5 sections, described below. Many of the papers are creased, often with chipped edges and clip stains.
Part One:
Includes memoranda from the tour manager's London offices. Payment, performance and hotel details are discussed, in particular who should pay for Ava Gardner's accomodation etc; it also deals with instructions as to how much to pay Frank Sinatra, whilst in Europe. The majority of this paperwork is addressed to Glyn Jones.
Among the items is a letter, dated 8th July 1953 from Leslie Grade; the reverse of the letter is written in block capitals and is addressed to Pierre Louis (see photo), likely a dictation from F.S. but possibly written by him in block letters.
Part 2:
Accounts statements/records detailing how much is spent on flights, accommodations, and performance payments to F.S. - who made an astonishing amount of money for the early 1950's!
Part 3:
Three Telegrams, one addressed directly to F.S. and bearing on the verso, a full concert performance list written in the hand of Sinatra.
Part 4:
Signed photograph of Frank Sinatra and Hank Sanicola (his friend/manager, also mentioned in the paperwork) by the pool in Las Vegas inscribed and signed by Hank and signed by him on behalf of Sinatra: "To Glyn - So you didn't believe us ask Lew. Hank + Frank."
Part 5:
Rough Draft of a memoir by Glyn Jones, mentioning other performers as well as F.S., including Gypsy Rose Lee.
