A container for sugar cubes or an ironic reference to Marcel Duchamp’s 1921 ‘Why Not Sneeze Rose Sélavy?’ Duchamp raised consumer items to pieces of art with his "assisted Readymade", a birdcage "assisted" by the addition of 152 white cubes (made of marble, but resembling sugar cubes), a mercury thermometer, a piece of cuttlebone, and a tiny porcelain dish. Here Lachaert and d’Hanis have respond by bringing the piece back for use, fashioning a similar small cage, here made of pure silver, for the possible storage of sugar cubes.

3-7/8 x 5-1/2 x 3-7/8 inches (10 x 14 x 10 cm). Ed. 6/20. Stamped on the bottom on cage. Produced by Droog design, The Netherlands. Pure silver. In fine condition with one small bar apparently lacking from the cage. The original Droog edition release price was approx. $3800.00 (a few still available from them directly at that price, if you prefer).
