Collection of 19 photographs documenting celebrities and entertainers visiting troops during World War II between the years 1944 and 1945, including USO favorites Marlene Dietrich, John Wayne and Hope Hope, the former shown in uniform and helmet amongst the troops and the latter evoking laughter by pretending to steal a soldier's hospital bed.  Other identified individuals include Roddy McDowell, Trudy Marshall, Carmen Miranda, Joel McCrea, Richard Dix, Gail Patrick, George Murphy, Bert Wheeler, Alan Hale, and James Doolittle with some of his Raiders. Ranging in size from smallest, 2.5 x 3 inches (6.35 x 9 centimeters), to largest, 4 x 5.15 inches (10.1 x 13 centimeters). In very fine condition. 

These photographs were originally from the personal collection of Marlene Dietrich, given by her to Paul McMahon, a critic, photographer and artist who worked for more than 13 years touring with her as the icon’s stage manager, announcer, dresser, secretary and escort, and later spent 25 years as an arts and entertainment reviewer and photographer with Gay Community News, Esplanade, Tommy’s Connection, The Mirror, Bay Windows and other publications.
