Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus. (1756–1791). Ouverture de l'Opera Le Nozze di Figaro à grand Orchestre...Oeuvre 48. Offenbach: Jean Andre. [1795]. First.

Violino Primo. Upright folio. Title set within decorative frame of vines, with a scene of a farmhouse below the title, and a clarinet and tambourine above.  Engraved throughout. [PN] 790. Price: 1.30 xr. Title; 2-3 pp. Toned, vertical creased, trimmed to just within the lower plate edge, small tear to right lower corner, markings in colored pencil, otherwise good.  Fuld page 353; RISM M 4358. The first violin part of the very rare first printing of the Overture of Mozart's best-loved opera, and perhaps the most famous Overture ever composed.

Exceedingly rare, preceding Simrock's 1796 Bonn publication of the vocal score of the complete opera and the earliest edition of the orchestral score, by Au Magasin du Musique in Paris, in 1806. We have not traced any examples of the orchestral parts at auction or on the market. Worldcat records but one example of the parts in the US, at UPenn.
