Thalberg, Sigismond. (1812-1871). Autograph Musical Quotation. AMQS from one of the most distinguished and celebrated virtuoso pianists of the 19th century, whose style made a great impact on European piano-playing  of the 1830's and 40's.  The composer and pianist has penned four chords in F major.  Boldly signed and dated Northampton, September 16, 1862.  This would have been during Thalberg's penultimate tour, before retiring from performance in 1863.  On a trimmed album page with light spotting, otherwise in fine condition.  On the verso, two unrelated signatures from a Louise Lickhart and an E. Enrique.  22 x 8.5 cm.
