Early signed photograph of the noted American pianist, who is shown aged ca. 21 playing intently at the instrument and has inscribed and signed at the upper right to music critic Raymond Morin, dating April 1949. Toning; cropping annotations to the margins; area of damage to the lower right; slight stain to the inscription. Overall very good. 8 x 10 inches (20.3 x 25 cm).

Janis was a child prodigy and made his orchestral debut at age 14 (in 1942), playing Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 in New York with Toscanini's NBC Orchestra.
