Lutoslawski, Witold. (1913-1994). "Symphony No. 3" - Autograph Letter Signed with Musical Quotation.
Autograph letter signed from the great Polish composer (October 8, 1991; 1 p. on personal stationary), who writes, in full, "Dear Mr. Juscik, / Thank you very much for your letter and your very nice words about my music. / I am affraid [sic] I have no time to discuss the questions you ask. / Please, forgive me. And here there are a few notes of my Symphony No. 3 / with all good wishes / Witold Lutosławski." Lutosławski has penned two measures of his symphony. In very fine condition. 6 x 8 inches (15.2 x 20.3 cm.).

Composed in 1973–1983, the Third Symphony was premiered by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Georg Solti on 29 September 1983. It was awarded the Nagroda Solidarności in 1984 and selected for the first Grawemeyer Award for Music Composition in 1985.
