Demus, Jörg. (1928–2019). Signed Photograph. Signed portrait of the Austrian pianist and composer in profile as a young man, by Fayer, Vienna.  Inscription in German to lower margin in blue ink, "Für Herrn Bucher-Lemau [?] in freundschaftlicher Verbundenheit! Ihr Jörg Demus Wien 1965."  Handstamp of Concertos Daniel, Buenos Aires, to verso.  7 x 4.75 inches (17.7 x 12 cm).  Ink poorly absorbed by photo paper; else in very good condition.

"Demus cultivated a soft, flexible touch and expressive line, and his performances of Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Franck, and Debussy were highly praised.  His adaptability made him a much sought-after accompanist for singers (including Schwarzkopf, Fischer-Dieskau, and Ameling), violinists (including Josef Suk), and cellists (including Antonio Janigro).  He also played and recorded piano duets with Paul Badura-Skoda."  Rudolf Klein in Grove Music Online
