[Otello] Tamagno, Francesco. (1850-1905). Autograph Letter and Photograph, Framed. . A fine autograph letter from the creator of the role of Otello, paired with a fine 8X10 photograph showing him seated in his dressing room, preparing his makeup for an Otello performance. The 1-page 8vo letter is penned on letterhead from the Grand Hotel de Milan and addressed to "Giacomelli, " possibly the husband of the soprano Ida Giacomelli or Efficio Giacomelli, who was a personal friend and chorister who often made arrangements for Tamagno as he traveled to various engagements. It is signed "Francesco" with the date January 13, 1900. Tamagno instructs him to "Write to your wife that you two must come here Tuesday evening, Wednesday being my last recital." He reminds him about an address, asks him to confirm an immediate shipment, and closes by asking him to write immediately and to "tell me which will the be the first opera that I give you."
