Godowsky, Leopold. (1870–1938). 50 Studien über die Etuden von Fr, Chopin. Nos. 3, 9, 15, 21, 23, 35, 46. Berlin: Schlesinger. 1903 - 1905. A scarce grouping of these fascinating studies by the American pianist and composer of Polish birth. Each study issued separately and with an attractive decorative wrapper, dealing with the preparation of a different Chopin piano work. Mostly in good condition, with wrappers heavily chipped, repaired or separated as spines. Each with the ownership stamp and small library sticker of conductor and pianist, Friedrich Jahoda (1909 - 2008).


Godowsky is remembered as one of the greatest Chopin interpreters and "it was through his intricately polyphonic transcriptions, especially the 53 Studies on the études of Chopin, that he became most widely known as a composer." (Charles Hopkins, Grove Music Online)
