Large signed photograph of the great pianist and influential pedagogue, himself a Czerny pupil (who had studied with Beethoven) and later the primary teacher of Paderewski, Gabrilowitsch, Schnabel and many others! Impressive matte-finish 6.5 x 8.75 photo of Leschetizky posing beside a bust of Beethoven, affixed to its original 11.5 x 17.5 mount, boldly signed and inscribed on the mount in black ink to his student and assistant (1909 - 1910), the American pianist, Edwin Hughes (1884 - 1965) with a marvelous quotation "Kein Leben ohne Kunst, Keine Kunst ohne Leben!" and dated 1914. Also signed by the photographer, Pauline Hamilton of Vienna. Framed to an overall size of 13.5 x 19.5.
