Schweitzer, Albert. (1875-1965). Signed Photograph to a Famous Harpist. Signed halftone photograph of the great Alsatian organist, philosopher, theologian and physician who is remembered for his great Bach recordings and his inspiring work as a humanitarian. Schweitzer won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1953 for founding the Lambarene Hospital in Gabon, west central Africa. An attractive 4 x 5.75 inch photograph of Schweitzer at his desk in Lambarene, nicely signed and inscribed in blue ink to Alice Chalifoux (1908–2008), principal harpist with the Cleveland Orchestra from 1931 to 1974. A few light stains, inscription a shade light, overall very good condition.
