Gershwin, George. (1898–1937) & Gershwin, Ira. (1896–1983). Signed Photograph of the Gershwins at Work. Original photograph of the great composer and lyricist brothers at work ca. 1950's, inscribed by Ira Gershwin to his friend and lawyer Leonard Spier Saxe, and with an additional clipped signature from George Gershwin mounted on the image (this as done by Ira). Ira has inscribed at the upper left: "For Leonard S. Saxe, Jurisconsult Preëminent, Man of Letters and Integrity; From his client (but friend), With much affection, Ira Gershwin." Ira is shown writing at a desk, while George plays at the piano next to him. Silver print, 10 x 8 inches (25.4 x 20.3 cm).

Saxe, a distant relative of the Gershwins, managed their affairs after the death of their mother Rose in 1948, and continued to be a close friend for many years.
