Heavy wear, soiling and toning to the wrapper, which has split along the spine with small tears. Some light internal soiling and toning but crisp; overall in very good condition. 11 x 14 inches (28 x 36 cm).

The French pianist, composer, and pedagogue Isidor Edmond Philipp was born in Budapest and died in Paris. He studied at the Conservatoire de Paris with Georges Mathias and Camille Saint-Saëns, where he became a lifelong friend of his classmate Claude Debussy. After a successful concert career, he became known primarily as a pedagogue, teaching many important pianists of the next generation. He was close friends with many of the leading pianists and composers of his day, including Leopold Godowsky, Ferruccio Busoni, Alfred Cortot, Béla Bartók, Nadia Boulanger, and Jules Massenet.
