Chevillard was a director of the Concerts Lamoureux, also known as the Société des Nouveaux-Concerts, which had been founded by his father-in-law, Charles Lamoureux in 1881; first as its choral director in the mid-1880s, and then as its deputy director in the late 1890s while Lamoureux was on tour.
