[Puccini, Giacomo. (1858–1924)] Fleta, Miguel. (1897–1938). Signed Postcard Photograph. Elusive signed Schlattman of Mexico postcard photograph of the Spanish Tenor, who has inscribed "al señor / Alberto Rimoldi / sinceramente / M Fleta / B. Aires 1923."  Signed photographs of Fleta are exceedingly rare, given his untimely death at the age of 45 from kidney disease.  Light silvering, else in fine condition.  3.5 x 5.5 inches (8.9 x 14 cm.).

Though his professional career lasted only 15 years, from 1919 to 1935, Fleta is considered one of the most significant Iberian opera singers of the 20th century.  In 1926, La Scala's principal conductor, Arturo Toscanini, insisted that Fleta be cast in the role of Calaf for the world premiere of Puccini's posthumous opera Turandot, making Fleta the first tenor in the world to sing "Nessun Dorma."
