Price, Leontyne. (b. 1927). "Tosca"—Early Signed Photograph.
Signed 1962 portrait of the legendary American soprano, one of the first Black singers to become an internationally acclaimed diva in classical music, both in opera and in concert, in the title role of Puccini's Tosca.  By Louis Mélancon, Metropolitan Opera, New York.   Inscribed to Paul McMahon.  10.25 x 8.25 inches (25.4 x 20.6 cm).  In fine condition.

The year after their history-making joint debut at the Met, Price and Franco Corelli were paired in Puccini’s gripping tale of deception and revenge. The combination sent audiences into delirium: her rich, soaring soprano perfectly matched his ardent, romantic tenor.

From the collection of Paul McMahon, a critic, photographer and artist who worked for more than 13 years touring with Marlene Dietrich as the icon’s stage manager, announcer, dresser, secretary and escort, and later spent 25 years as an arts and entertainment reviewer and photographer with Gay Community News, Esplanade, Tommy’s Connection, The Mirror, Bay Windows and other publications.
