Flonzaley String Quartet (1902-1928). Large Signed Photograph. A superb original 1917 signed photograph of the important string quartet. Inscribed in fountain pen ink on a photograph by Apeda of New York showing the musicians seated around a table in casual discussion: "To Mr. John E. Coughlin with kindest regards; New York, Nov. 1917. 'The Flonzaley Quartet.'" Each member of the quartet has then signed beneath the image: Adolfo Betti, Alfred Pochon, Louis Bailly, Iwan d'Archambeau. 10.75 x 13 inches. Mounting traces at corners, 2 small margin tears including one at bottom just barely touching the base of Bailly's signature. Otherwise fine.

The great quartet left numerous marvelous recordings and were the comissioners of Stravinsky's "Three Pieces for String Quartet," among other works.
