Delius, Frederick. (1862–1934). Autograph Letter to Barbirolli. 1 page, 4to, Grez-sur-Loing, February 19, 1934. To the English conductor, Sir John Barbirolli (1899-1970), most closely associated with his work. The present letter, dictated to his wife and accomplished in her hand, congratulates Barbirolli and his orchestra on a performance of his "Brigg Fair: an English Rhapsody" at Leeds: "What pleased me especially was that I felt you were in entire sympathy with the work and that every important point and delicate shade you never failed to bring out." Boldly signed by Delius himself at the conclusion. Lightly toned overall, else fine.

Letters of musical content from the influential English composer are very rare.
